Lev Manovich, as part of the CineGrid venue that is taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, gave a lecture on the topic of Museums at the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) on Aug 26, 2014.
Manovich presented its Cultural Analytics project that aims to create a new methodology to understand and visualize the huge amount of data that we are creating day by day. Manovich’s goal is to understand how society is moving towards a new configuration of the visual culture based on the scalability of the cultural artifacts generated by the massive introduction of digital artifacts, such as mobile phones, tablets, computers etc. Manovich understands that there is a necessity to provide methodological tools for this new model of visual and cultural knowledge that we are living in contemporary societies.
