O GLIF (Global Lambda Integrated Facility) é um consórcio internacional que promove o paradigma das conexões via redes lambda. O GLIF provê lambdas internacionalmente como um local integrado com a finalidade de apoiar pesquisas científicas que demandam processamento de dados intensivos e de alta complexidade, além de apoiar o desenvolvimento de middlewares para redes lambda. O GLIF reúne alguns dos mais importantes engenheiros que tem trabalhado juntos no desenvolvimento de uma infraestrutura internacional identificando equipamentos, padrões de conectividade e as necessidades em termos de engenharia para o desempenho de algumas funções e serviços.
The GLIF consortium has been a partner of the CineGrid and will provide some of the connectivity between Brazil and US.
According to their website (www.glif.is), ” the Global Lambda Integrated Facility, is an international consortium that promotes the paradigm of lambda networking. GLIF provides lambdas internationally as an integrated facility to support data-intensive scientific research, and supports middleware development for lambda networking. It brings together some of the world’s premier networking engineers who are working together to develop an international infrastructure by identifying equipment, connection requirements, and necessary engineering functions and services.
The GLIF participants are National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), consortia and institutions working with lambdas. Administrative support is provided by the GLIF Secretariat with financial support from sponsoring organisations.” (Source: GLIF website @ glif.is)
